@VPG yes, I see no difference between killing an non-human animal and a human animal beyond legality and other cultural impact. Ethically is exactly the same.

Oh I do see differences. I would choose the human if I had to and such things. But if we recognize that they suffer the same as us they do have certain rights. For example not to be hurt.

I know its speciesist. I would chose a person of my family over a stranger aswell.

When we talk about your family or yourself, I think there's others factors here that makes you choose one or another individual because of other reasons (emotional relationships, self-stem, illness, survival chances, etc).
